You’re Not Stuck, You’re Just One Small Step Away From CChange

Whilst I have grown to love routines it can often feel like we are living the day on repeat. We wake up, go through the motions, fall into bed… and repeat. It is easy to keep waiting for the right time: next Monday, next month, after the holidays. But let’s be honest: that “perfect time” rarely comes. If you’ve been saying things like: “I just need to get through this busy season.” “I’ll start when I feel more motivated.” “I’ll begin once I have more time/energy/confidence…”
You're not alone but you're also not stuck forever.
More often than not, we’re not stuck because we don’t know what to do. We’re stuck because starting feels too hard, too uncertain, too uncomfortable. But the truth? Nothing changes if you don’t. For me, at some point, the pain of staying the same becomes heavier than the fear of change. Let me ask you this:What scares you more, the discomfort of change, or the regret of staying stuck?
I find that the only thing scarier than change is looking back and realising the time spent waiting for "ready."
Change starts with one small habit. Last year, I started running. I had been waiting to feel ready but I realised that sometimes action comes first and then motivation will follow. That one choice of going for my first run (which was more of a walk!) has rippled into so many others. Building confidence, creating positive habits, and taking action all start with one small step.
We’re more powerful and stronger than we think. When we take ownership of our life, when we stop blaming and start choosing, everything changes. We can accept our life and find the good in it. Or we can decide to change it. But doing neither? That’s what keeps us stuck.
Self-love is not just bubble baths and candles. Self-love is saying:
“I refuse to settle.”
“I deserve more than this.”
“I can create a life I love.”
Yes, change is hard. But not changing has a cost too. Our energy. Our joy. Our potential. It can slowly drain us while we wait for "someday." Comfort zones are silent traps. Familiar can be fabulous but, doesn't always mean good. We don’t have to wait until it hurts more to make a move. Ask yourself: Can I afford not to take action?
Forget Perfect. Just Begin.
If you're stuck in perfectionism (which so many of us are) waiting for the perfect plan, the perfect body, the perfect version of you; you're setting yourself up to stay stuck.
The mindset that changes lives is this: “I’ll start now. I’ll figure it out as I go.”
We don’t need a complete roadmap. We need to take action, messy, imperfect, brave action.
When we're overwhelmed, it is too easy to retreat into overthinking. I have learnt recently that action really is the antidote. Move your body. Write down one next step. Do something. Anything. Because once we’re in motion, our mindset begins to shift. We build momentum. We build belief. We build confidence.
How to Build Better Habits (That Actually Stick)
On a practical note; if we want to change our life, we can start by changing our habits, the small, daily actions that shape your future.
Here’s how to build habits that last:
Start Small - A 10-minute walk is better than a 5-mile run you’ll never do. Be Consistent - Same time, same place, same cue = long-term success.
Habit Stack - Anchor new habits to old ones: “After I brush my teeth, I’ll…”
Make It Enjoyable - We’re more likely to repeat habits that feel good.
Track It - Use a journal or checklist. What gets tracked, gets repeated.
Celebrate - Say “YES! I showed up for myself today.” That matters.
Repeat after me:
I am building confidence. I am creating positive habits
I am taking action
I am becoming the who I’ve always wanted to be.
Say it. Write it. Believe it. Live it.
Today is a perfectly good day to start. You’re not stuck. You’re just one decision away from momentum. You don’t need to change your whole life today. But you do need to start. Start small. Start scared. Start imperfect. But for the love of your future self, just start.
If you’re tired of feeling stuck, don’t wait.
The first step isn’t clarity. It’s action. The first habit isn’t big. It’s consistent. The first result isn’t perfect. It’s momentum.
You’ve got this. And, I’ll be right here cheering you on, every step of the
