Perimenopause after pregnancy recovery

Pregnancy wrecked my body. It took 18 months to feel strong and like me again. I made a commitment to myself to become the healthiest, strongest I could be by the time my daughter starts school. I started running again. I was feeling good but, then my periods started to become irregular.
I got on with things. Then I started having dizzy spells so I saw a physio. Deep down I knew it was my hormones. I hired a PT who specialises in supporting women my age. I continued my fitness journey.
My work have a menopause network and lots of resources so I read a lot. We’re lucky today to have so much information at our fingertips tips and things are being talked about more. There are so many symptoms of perimenopause it was only when I started reading I realised what I was experiencing.
At the end of last year I bled for 40 days. I became anaemic. I was just recovering when I got shingles. Then I got my periods really frequently. My body felt battered again.
In the new year I booked to see a consultant. I have now had a hysteroscopy, endometrial biopsy, Novasure endometrial ablation and the Mirena IUCD inserted. Fingers crossed this improves things!
In addition to that, I am continuing to keep fit and eat well, and have just started HRT. Watch this space!
Sharing in the hope this helps someone. If you’re experiencing a change then take the time to understand what is happening so you can manage it.
If you’re not at that stage please look after your body, it’s the best investment you can make.
